EIGHT
MORE THAN FLESH AND BONE.

Different days demand different resources.
The stars dictate the moods and madness
We go through on our way to happiness or pain.
Every drop of rain that falls on you or him or her
Was meant to fall there from the day the earth started spinning.
You may try to stop the course of time and make your own rules and regulations.
But the hands of fate will grab you by the throat
And make you spit out your confession.

Life is such a fragile thing
We need so many things to make us grow tall and strong and happy.
Love and food and sunlight. And love.
Even then the tiniest of bacteria can lay us low
And poison our blood with some incurable disease.
I closed my hands in prayer again
Even though I believe in no particular god.
I need the power of prayer to pull me through.
Some of us have had visions of life on another level
And I surely believe in the spirit and soul.
We all hear that voice within
Reminding us we are more than flesh and bone.
If you hear it listen for it can surely guide you home!
